Government Takes Steps To Reconstruct Myliddi Port
The government has taken steps to reconstruct the Valikamam Myliddi port to engage it in operation again.
The Cabinet has approved the proposals made by Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe; as Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs in relation to the implementation of the necessary projects to facilitate the rehabilitation of the existing harbour.
The fisheries harbor Myliddi, in Valikamam area was contributed a lot in the years around 1980.
The operation of the port was stopped due to the war between the government and the LTTE.
In July 2017, the port and 54 acres of land around it were released by the government for fishing activities.
Therefore the people who were displaced, now returned to their homes.

Big network behind Aawa gang?
The question has now emerged that the Aawa Group is being operated from Switzerland.
The police have received information on the source of the group’s finance and advice, which comes through a Tamil organization in Switzerland.
It has been revealed when interrogated a suspect in custody. Police have been informed that a group in Switzerland is still involved in fundraising for the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and that two of the group is currently in Sri Lanka.
