Brigadier Priyanka Fernando who had threatened Tamils protested in front of the Sri Lankan High Commission in London, has been identified as the Commander who headed a military battalion in the final battle against LTTE, which also saw that massacre of thousands of civilians.
Brigadier Priyanka Fernando served as the Commanding Officer of the 11th Gemunugawa Battalion in the period from 2008 to 2009 in the 59th Division, which moved from Manaloor to Mullaitivu.
According to the UN Security Council report stated that soldiers of the 59th Division were carrying out a cannon attack on the Mullaitivu hospital.

A video which purportedly shows a Sri Lankan Military officer showing a cutthroat gesture to the Tamils who protested in London, has raised serious questions.
The protest which was staged against the Sri Lanka’s celebration of Independence, took place in front of the Sri Lankan High Commission in London.
Protesters condemned Sri Lanka’s Independence Day celebrations as ridiculous when the oppression of Tamil people is ongoing and expressed their support for the struggle of Tamils in Sri Lanka.
However a Sri Lankan Military officer who was standing infront of the High Commission, ran a finger across his neck motioning the slitting of one’s neck.
His cruel gesture came at the presence of several officials of High Commission.
The video which has now been released across social media channels is going viral. The gesture of the Military officer has been seriously condemned by many.
